Colleges Scotland is the voice of the college sector in Scotland, supporting the delivery of thriving colleges at the heart of a thriving Scotland.
We promote, influence and exemplify colleges as they deliver world-class education and training to students and their contribution to Scotland’s economic, climate, social, and international ambitions.
Colleges equip students from every background with the education and skills they need to achieve their ambitions and maximise their potential. Attending college is a positive choice for students to receive excellent learning, teaching and assessment; it is the destination for students with aspiration, turning potential into qualifications and delivering skills that last a lifetime.
The College Sector Statement of Ambition, launched by the Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training, Jamie Hepburn MSP, in December 2021 commits the sector to supporting a thriving economy by creating a highly skilled workforce across the country, growing Scotland’s economy, and making strong and positive impacts on lives, the environment, and communities.
The five-pronged Statement of Ambition spans the next five years, 2021 – 2026, and highlights the plans colleges have to support a green national recovery programme, to extend the reach of colleges within local communities, to develop work-based training, to grow regional partnerships and to provide locally-focused and targeted learning for every student, whilst outlining the value of Scotland’s colleges for our students, employers, communities, and the wider economy.
