Scotland’s Enterprise agencies, which includes Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Development International and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, assist in the growth of the Scottish higher education sector by encouraging and supporting institutions to grow their international revenue through trade activities.The agencies support the sector to position Scotland as an international partner of choice in higher education, and to maximise the economic impact of institutions through trade, and their contributions to inward investment in Scotland.
The Enterprise Agencies have a strong track record of working with overseas partners, through delivery of teaching, training, in-country provision, or a more ‘blended learning’ approach.
Combined, the Enterprise Agencies would look to support on projects in the following areas:
- Transnational education partnerships that deliver Scottish qualifications in overseas markets;
- International commercial opportunities, such as Continuous Professional Development (CPD), which require a Scottish academic partner;
- Contract or collaborative research partnerships across a range of key sectors.
Support for Connected Scotland
Scotland’s Enterprise agencies will support this connected approach through the provision of staffing on the Connected Scotland management group, and on the management of agreed project deliverables. Consideration will be given to the project funding of agreed missions and initiatives through this model, and the support of the 30 Scottish Development International field offices and their in-country connections can be called upon.
The Agencies will also commit to jointly sourcing and identifying new project funding for initiatives identified as part of this connected Scotland work.
